Police Equipment Reviews has recently been asked to start reviewing some police badges and related police supply. With that being said, we are proud to start our police badges reviews tonight! Our goal is to provide you with an overview of police badges and police supply stores that sell police badges. Tonight’s article is going to concentrate strictly on top 5 types of police badges.
There are five main types of police badges; collector badges, star badges, circle/star badges, oval badges, and eagle top badges. Police Equipment Reviews is going to provide you with a short description of each type of police badges.
1) Collector badges- These are the badges that are no longer being used by a police department and represent the past. In all cases, collector badges have to be approved by the Chief or Sheriff because in theory these are legitimate badges. Most of the time the officer or deputy is allowed to order a collector badge with their id number on it and their highest rank engraved on it. Collector badges can add a lot to shadow boxes.
2) Star badges are commonly seen on Deputy Sheriffs. They are called star badges because they are in the shape of a star! Some star badges will have special characteristics on them such as rocker panels or raised markings. Star badges can be made very small also.
3) Circle/Star badges are a combination of a circle badge and star badge. The star is inset into a circle. The circle acts most of the time as a rocker panel and can be set on or within the star in a few different ways.
4) Oval badges are most commonly seen on police officers. Some security officers will wear these also but it is very rare. Today’s oval badges are getting more complicated and more of art pieces. Most oval badges will have the city’s logo on it and a rocker panel that displays the rank. Oval badges look very good on police uniforms.
5) Eagle Top badges are most common in security positions, federal positions, and police officers. These are the most generic badges and cost the least typically. Eagle top badges are starting to be a thing of the past with the popularity of oval badges.
