Aker Flatsider holster review

January 28th, 2009 · No Comments · Uncategorized

I recently bought some new police gear from my local police equipment store, Emergency Equipment Engineering. On of my new pieces of police equipment is the Aker Flatsider Belt Side holster. I already owned a couple concealment holsters, including the DeSantis Die Hard ankle holster and the Fobus holster, but I felt I needed a more professional looking holster to wear with suits. While all the Fobus holster reviews are true, I just felt the plastic appearance wasn’t that professional.

The Aker Flatsider holster has a thumb break for added security. The holster also features curved belt slots that provide extra stability and an adjustable tension screw. Additionally, the Aker Flatsider holster is made of the finest leather.

What I really like about the Aker Flatsider holster is that it can easily accommodate my Glock pistol and provide excellent comfort. Like the name says, the Flatsider is flat on one side causing it to sit nice and flat against my hip. The leather was slightly tough when I first pulled it out of the bag, but in the month that I have owned it, I can already see the leather softening up.

The Aker Flatsider holster costs about $60.00. Not too much more than the Fobus holsters. Aker holsters are available at all major police gear stores such as Galls, LA Police Gear, and Chief Public Supply.

On a side note, I have said before that I am an avid camper and have started a camping gear website. The website is going great and has a similiar style as the police gear site so make sure you send me some reviews on your favorite camping equipment so I can post it!
