One of the most popular Sig Sauer pistols is the Sig P229. The Sig Sauer P229 comes in many styles and calibers, all of which are some of the best police guns. Here are a couple of the most popular Sig Sauer P229 models.
Sig Sauer P229R- The original and still most popular Sig P229. It comes in a 9mm, 40 caliber, or .357 SIG version. Because of its accuracy and ergonomics, the Sig P229R is one of the most popular duty weapons. The Sig Sauer P229R is California complaint and costs about $799.99.

As like all police guns, there are many accessories for the Sig Sauer P229 pistols. There are many holsters available including Fobus holsters and Bianchi holsters. In addition there are several tactical flashlights including Streamlight flashlights and Surefire flashlights.

On a side note, Police Equipment Reviews has long been a customer of BlueHost web hosting and has promoted a BlueHost promo price in the past. We just got wind that BlueHost is about to make some changes to their web hosting package and should be really good. One of the key changes is that they are going to be extremely compatible with internet merchant accounts which is good for online police gear stores. That will make the selling of police equipment online a lot easier for them.

Best Fire Gear

Hi readers, wanted to pass on some exciting news from Police Equipment Reviews. We have had such great response from our readers that we have launched a new site called Best Fire Gear. This site is dedicated to finding the best fire gear and doing fire equipment reviews. We all know how firemen want to be cops so we couldn't leave them out!!! Actually, we felt that there weren't any good, legit fire gear review sites out there so we started one!

The site is not only geared toward firefighters but also the public. In addition to reviewing fire uniforms such as American Firewear and other firefighting equipment, we are going to be publishing articles on fire prevention and other useful tutorials. We have already listed some of the best fire extinguishers such as Kidde fire extinguishers and First Alert.

We are really excited about the new site. While cops and fire give each other a hard time, we are brothers and sisters. Police gear is often used by fire personel and fire equipment is often used by police.

TatJacket Tattoo Cover

Police Equipment Reviews recently had the opportunity to test out the new TatJacket tattoo cover sleeve. This product isn’t limited to just police equipment. Anybody with tattoos can utilize the TatJacket. The TatJacket tattoo cover sleeve is a nylon/spandex sleeve that slides over your arm or calf and covers your visible tattoos. The sleeve is very comfortable and designed to look like your skin.

Products like the TatJacket are becoming more and more popular as tattooing becomes more popular. A lot of people are expressing themselves in the form of ink, but their workplace doesn’t like that. A lot of police agencies have tattoo policies that prevent the tattoos from being visible. That is where TatJacket comes into play. They have tattoo cover sleeves in short and long sleeve and multiple colors. No more wearing long sleeve police uniforms just to cover up your tattoos.

As Police Equipment Reviews mentioned above, products like TatJacket are becoming more popular. There are quite a few manufacturers in this field and Police Equipment Reviews has reviewed a couple of them. We like the TatJacket tattoo cover sleeve for several reasons: comfort, color, and price. The TatJacket is very comfortable and allows all the mobility you need. The best thing about the TatJacket is the price. For the price of one tattoo cover up sleeve from a competitor, you can get two TatJacket cover sleeves! So what is the price of the TatJacket cover sleeves? They only cost $19.95 so you don’t have any excuses on not ordering them from the official TatJacket website.

The last reason my sound a little funny but it is true. Police Equipment Reviews carries a Streamlight UltraStinger flashlight and it fits perfect in one of the cargo pant pockets. The Blauer police uniforms can be found at most police gear stores and all police uniform shops.

Garmin GPS Devices and Police Guns

Police Equipment Reviews has some exciting news to announce. Last week we launched a sister site that specifically deals with police guns. Best Police Guns is designed to provide you with information on police guns, gun holsters, and prices of police guns. We have Glock reviews, Sig Sauer pistol information , and Ruger prices. The site is definitely in the growing stages and can only be successful with all your help! The same help that made Police Equipment Reviews so successful. Check it out and let us know your thoughts!

So today's blog is not about traditional police gear. It's not about police scanners, it's not about ASP batons..it's about Garmin GPS devices. Not too often are GPS devices considered police gear but think about it. What is Lojak basically? What is Onstar? We used GPS all the time in police work but don't relaize it.

Recently Police Equipment Reviews was given a Garmin Nuvi 255 to try out in our car. The Garmin Nuvi 255 is an entry level GPS device and only costs about $200.00. It does not have all the bells and whistles but it has what you need for police work. We use it to enter addresses where we are driving to and also as running map. The Garmin Nuvi is very nice and Police Equipment Reviews highly recommends it.

Most police gear stores don't sell Garmin GPS devices so you should check out your local camping gear stores instead.

Safariland Tactical Holster

So I started a new assignment a couple weeks ago and we do a lot of work that we have to wear tactical gear. As a result I went to one of the police gear stores in San Diego and bought a Safariland Tactical leg holster. I needed one that would fit my Glock 22 with tactical lights affixed to it. I walked out of the store with the Safariland 6304 Tactical leg holster.

From the first time I put this tactical holster on I knew I was going to love it. I use to wear my Glock 27 or Glock 22 on the side and it was hard to access when I was wearing my American Body Armor Extreme raid vest. The tactical leg holster is very easy to get on and very easy to access my Glock. I have worn it about a dozen times so far and there is not one bad thing I can say about the Safariland 6304 holster. Here are some technical stats about this Safariland holster.

  • Features the ALS Automatic Locking System- Makes it very secure.
  • Includes SLS hood assembly and Hood Guard- Prevents suspects from grabbing the release lever.
  • Simple straight up draw once all releases are de-activated
  • Thermal-molded SafariLaminate construction protects handgun and sights
  • Standard double leg strap and leg shroud with mounting holes for optional accessories
  • Adjustable vertical leg strap
  • Available in Black, STX tactical , Foliage Green, FDE Brown, and OD Green

The Safariland 6304 tactical holster costs about $180.00. It is worth every penny and should be part of your tactical police gear!!

Sig Sauer P226

Police Equipment Reviews is taking a step aside from the Glock pistols and talking today about the Sig Sauer pistols, specifically the Sig Sauer P226. Sig Sauer has been making some of the best police guns for quite some time and popular in the police industry, federal law enforcement, and military. One thing that separates the Sig Sauer pistols from the rest, is their workmanship. They are built to the highest standards and only contain the best materials. A special feature of the Sig Sauer guns is the ability to customize them, mainly putting a custom grip on them. A Captain at our work has a Sig Sauer 1911 with custom logo'd wood grip. This gun looks amazing! No wonder why it is kept in a shadow box.

The Sig Sauer P226 more commonly known as the Sig P226, comes in three different calibers; 9mm, .357, and .40 caliber. Within the Sig P226 family there are several different variations. There is a special tactical version, Navy Seal version, and other versions with slight deviations from the others.

In San Diego, the Sig Sauer P226 is popular for duty issued weapons. It seems everybody that carries them is extremley happy. Police Equipment Reviews has shot the Sig Sauer P226 before and liked it. We felt the gun compared to the Glock 40 that we carry daily. It boils down to a personal prefernce, one that Police Equipment Reviews doesn't think you can go wrong in.
